I Don't Want To Discuss It

Let’s not have talk about Trident

It’s only a bomb after all

Let’s not be sullen or strident

“Trident to go!” What a gall!

Let’s not have talk about Tridents

It’s not as if they will be fired

They’ve only been built to give guidance

If ever we feel uninspired

Let’s not have talk about Trident

There’s not been a war, tell me why

To rule you must always divide and

Keep missiles that point to their sky

Let’s not have talk about Trident

Think what our children must owe

To its warhead while they play their hide-and-

Seek, with their noses aglow

Let’s not have talk about Trident

They could wipe out the awful Iraqis

Each gives us Obama and Biden

To the power of nine Nagasakis

Let’s not have talk about Trident

Each missile is cheap (sixteen million)

Watch its beauty, it’s crazy for sky-dent

While the stars will be riding as pillion

So let’s not have talk about Trident

Conventional wars are so tiring

We all love our national pride. Ent-

ertainment! Exciting! Inspiring!

I Don't Want To Discuss It

Even the Labour party has shied away from an open discussion about renewing Trident.
